How can physiotherapy help?
Your pelvic physiotherapist will perform a thorough assessment to help identify specific factors that are contributing to your pelvic pain. With your explicit consent we can assess your body both internally and externally. We assess your posture, alignment, range of motion, how you move, breath and your lifestyle!
With your consent we can assess your pelvic floor and deep hip muscles. This can be done via ultrasound or via an internal examination. During an internal examination we also assess your pelvic nerves, checking for correct sensation or presence of heightened sensitivity.
Pelvic physio treatment may involve:
External manual therapy to address muscular tension (*if indicated and appropriate)
Internal manual therapy to address pelvic floor and/or deep hip muscle tension (*if indicated and appropriate)
Prescription of tailored ball release, stretches and yoga sequences to improve range of motion and reduce discomfort
Prescription of tailored and progressive home exercises, to stabilize, tone and strengthen. These may be Pilates, functional/gym, or yoga inspired exercises that are suited to your individual needs
Supervised exercise rehabilitation - We offer private 1:1, 2:1 duets or small 4:1 group exercise sessions at our on-site exercise studio. These sessions may involve our Pilates reformer beds, gym-based equipment, cables machines, weights, bands and/or balance equipment
